Mr. Smart is an energetic, logical thinker with over 15 years of technical & leadership experience in electrical, systems, project and safety engineering. As a professional engineer, Mr. Smart began working for IBM as a design engineer. He later transitioned to a top Defense Contracting Corporation to pursue work in the intelligence community. In this position, he served as a lead engineer and engineering manager on several high visibility projects. As his career elevated, he landed a job with a very successful consulting firm (Booz Allen Hamilton). In this position he would provide major engineer solutions to multiple Fortune 500 companies located in the United States as well as internationally
With a strong foundation in systems engineering, Mr. Smart has engaged in leading edge technologies fostering critical thinking and promoting long-term strategic analysis through the use of advanced research. Mr. Smart has most recently served as a Project Systems Safety Engineer for various projects at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. In this role he established and assured compliance with NASA safety and mission assurance strategies, policies, and standards. He also improved methodologies for risk identification and assessment, provided recommendations for risk mitigation and acceptance by performing independent safety and mission assurance assessments and process verification reviews through analysis and recommendations for critical agency safety decisions.
